J&B Restaurant Partners Join WBLI’s 4th Annual Steve & Maria’s “Adopt-A-Kid” Program

New York NY December 2 2003--J&B Restaurant Partners, Inc., (J&B) who operates all Friendly’s restaurants on Long Island, is inviting the public to make the holiday dreams of children come true by joining them as they once again support WBLI’s 4th Annual Steve & Maria’s “Adopt-A-Kid” program. J&B will be supporting the program by opening their hearts in all their Friendly’s LI restaurants in an effort to purchase holiday gift cards for children who normally would not receive any gifts this holiday season. All Friendly’s LI restaurants will serve as central collection drop-off locations for check contributions from the public. Checks should be made out to Family Service League and placed in cannisters located next to the register. Credit card contributions will also be accepted. In addition, during “Friendly’s Fridays,” J&B Restaurant Partners Friendly’s LI will once again match any donations contributed to WBLI (106.1) up to $10,610! Friendly’s LI restaurants are open seven days a week.

“The Adopt-A-Kid program brings magic to the holiday season and into the lives of economically disadvantaged children,” stated Jerry Snearly, Chief Financial Officer of J&B. Last year during the holiday season, J&B raised over $30,000 to support the program. “Our goal is to make a significant impact with our efforts, contribute something of great value to the Long Island community while assuring a happy holiday for children who would otherwise not be having one. Our commitment this year is to make a difference and increase what was raised last year to make it the most successful year for the program thus far,” Snearly added.

Approximately four years old, the “Adopt A Kid” program raises funds to provide toys for economically disadvantaged children here on Long Island. 100% of money raised will be used to purchase gift cards to be given to children who otherwise would not be receiving any holiday gifts. To mark the end of the check collection and to start distribution of thousands of holiday gift cards to LI’s children, on Friday morning, December 19th, Friendly’s LI will join Steve and Maria to bring over one hundred economically disadvantaged children for a shopping spree at a local toy store.
